Sombat child refugee Thailand

Child refugees and asylum seekers

This week we told Sombat’s story on our blog. Originally from Myanmar, Sombat lives in northern Thailand with his mum and three sibings. Until recently, Sombat didn’t have Thai citizenship and was facing great instability, few employment opportunities and limited access to healthcare. Thanks to an initiative by Compassion Thailand, Sombat now has a birth certificate and permanent citizenship. “Now I have education and a future,” he explains.

  • Please pray for the thousands of children like Sombat. In Thailand alone there are an estimated 645,400 refugees, asylum seekers and those who the United Nations Refugee Agency defines as stateless.
  • Continue to pray for the global refugee crisis. Pray for children fleeing conflict.
