Carry His cross

"Then he said to them all: 'Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.'” Luke 9:23

It’s hard to deny myself but according to Jesus, to be his disciple we have to be selfless and give a helping hand to others. We may show this by our actions, by not boasting about ourselves as whatever I have, it all belongs to God.

What does it mean to "carry a cross" daily? In order to feel His presence we have to face the challenges of going through difficult situations, experience physical torture, face embarrassment for the Lord, but at the same time continue to keep our faith strong in Him. Our Lord Jesus is the living God and those who look to Him are always shining and don’t live with the fear of being ashamed (Psalm 34:5). In times of difficulty, I’ve come to realise that only God can lift us from these situations, all we need to do is hold on to our hope and leave everything in His hands, because when everything seems impossible, for Him “everything is possible”.

Jesus died for us and has already paid the price with his life, now it is up to us to feel His presence by carrying His cross and bringing glory and honour in his name.

Prayer: Father God, today we thank you that whatever situations we face, you’re there by our side.
