Ethiopia drought

Pray for Ethiopia

The current El Niño, named by the UN as “one of the strongest weather events ever recorded,” has caused disaster for planting and livestock production across Ethiopia. The lack of food and water has impacted over 10 million people. There are increased risks of disease outbreak and livelihoods have been destroyed as livestock have died or been in poor health. Currently there are fears that limited access to seeds and other agricultural inputs will further intensify the effect of the drought.

  • Please pray for the Ethiopian government as they show strong leadership to mitigate the scale of El Niño-related problems. The government is working in partnership with humanitarian organisations across the country.
  • Pray for Compassion Ethiopia. Through our RESPOND ministry, to date they have been able to provide additional food support for 8,374 registered children and 41,872 of their family members. As the impact of the drought continues, children and their families will be helped to gain short and long-term food security.
