Chaparrastique Volcano

The El Salvador National Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources has issued an alert for the eruption of the Chaparrastique Volcano in the southeastern region of the country, near San Miguel.  The volcano began spewing ash and gas earlier this week. The plume was between 1,500 and 2,000 metres high.

Please pray for those in the surrounding area to remain safe. Compassion's partner churches in the region have held emergency committees to assess the impact and make plans.
