He is risen – Alleluia!

"As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. 'Don’t be alarmed,' he said. 'You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.’” - Mark 16:5-7

Tomorrow we celebrate the wonderful and glorious day when Jesus won the victory over death. The sacrifice that Jesus made upon the cross demonstrates God’s immense, unfailing love for us. It allowed us to once more enter into the presence of God and gave us new life. But what does it mean to receive new life? Simply put, it’s to live a life which follows the example of Christ.

Throughout his days on earth, Jesus showed us how to live a life focused on God. He lived a humble life, dedicated to servant leadership. He valued forgiveness, showed mercy and demonstrated compassion to all around him. He taught us, that in everything we should strive for justice, not turning away from hunger, poverty, neglect or violence. Instead, we should invite everyone to our table, sharing the resources that God has entrusted us with.

If we’re to be witnesses to the risen Christ, we must seek a closer, deeper relationship with Him. Sustained by His love we endeavour to follow in His footsteps, striving with each step to bring about His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.

Prayer:

This weekend, we give thanks for Jesus’ victory. Praise God that Jesus made a way for you and me to have a personal relationship with God. We pray for those close to us, that they would know the reality of Jesus’ victory in their lives. Amen.

Thank you for joining us this Lent. From all of us at Compassion UK, we hope you’ve been blessed and encouraged by the daily stories and reflections, Bible verses and images. Happy Easter!
