Noemi was only one year old when her father passed away in a tragic accident while returning from work.
A few years later Noemi’s mother became ill. Noemi’s oldest sister, Rosmery left school to take care of her. The seven children hoped their mother would get better, but she continued to grow weaker. “I was helping take care of my mother and my siblings. That’s why I didn’t study. I helped my mother because she couldn’t on her own,” says Rosmery.
Two years ago, their mother passed away, leaving the siblings completely by themselves.
Before their mother passed away, Noemi and two of her brothers were registered at a local Compassion project in Bolivia. At the project Noemi learnt to reply on God, “maybe if I hadn’t been a Christian I would have left my siblings, but God rescued me. He gave me strength. He sent people from the church, from the Compassion project. God is big.”
Despite the challenges this family still face they’re at peace because they know they can count on the church, and God’s faithfulness. As Rosmery explains, “the church is now our family; they give us moral support, they talk with us, and I’m thankful to the Lord for them.”
Prayer:
Heavenly father, thank you for the love and support this family has received from the church. We pray that you will continue to strengthen Rosmery, Noemi and their siblings. Amen.
