Heat Wave in India

29 May 2015

Extreme weather conditions have affected India for the past month. Temperatures in Andhra Pradesh have hit up to 47C and have caused the deaths of more than 1,300 people in the state alone. Nationwide, officials say that nearly 1,700 people have died since 18 May.

Experts say that pre-monsoon showers should ease the situation from Friday and clouds are already beginning to form over some parts of the South of the country.

The poorest are hit hardest as they are unable to stop working and sit out of the sun and they often lack access to the clean water they need to stay hydrated.

Please pray with us for the rains to come soon and bring respite from the heat.
